FIVE QUICK NBA THOUGHTS 1. MO CHEEKS (Pistons): Out as coach. Am I surprised? No. The team is dysfunctional and is a collection of parts that dont know how to or want to commit to playing team ball. Talent - sure theyve got that but they look like a summer AAU team with a bunch of guys that are looking to showcase their individual games. Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings are Exhibit A and B. When does President/GM Joe Dumars eventually admit that hes lost his way and submit his resignation? How many more coaches are going to be blamed for his moves? Maybe Lionel Hollins comes in and saves Dumars job. Hollins is a no-nonsense coach who wont tolerate whats gone on there of late. Better get this right and quick. 2. TORONTO RAPTORS SCHEDULE: Have played a ton (28) of road games already. At 14-14 thats respectable but the time to win the Atlantic Division and also try to claim the third seed in the East has come. 19 of the final 32 games are at home. They have under-performed at home with a record of 12-10 and for this season to take off in a positive direction again the assertive play must reappear. To have a really nice season you hang around .500 on the road which theyve done and you take no prisoners at home. The schedule has turned with no more than two games in a row on the road the rest of the way. Time to get it done. They are more than capable of doing it. 3. GORAN DRAGIC (Suns): You see his numbers (27 points and six assists) since he was snubbed from the West All-Star team. The man is on a mission. Without Eric Bledsoe he has kept his team at a high level. Hes wonderfully skilled but what Ive seen of late as well is a little nasty streak like hes got even more to prove. Good for him. Hes doing it. 4. TAJ GIBSON (Bulls): He has been given the opportunity to start and play more minutes and hes delivering. Love his energy and second effort. Improved his face-up game and can get his game off in the lane though hes a bit undersized. Considering that Carlos Boozer looks like a guy that will be amnestied next season its going to be important in this homestretch of the season to determine if Gibson can carry starters minutes and hold up effectively. So far - solid. 5. NIKOLA VUCEVIC (Magic): Back from a concussion and suddenly the Magic are beating elite teams. Hes a terrific young player who was an absolute steal for them. When hes played this year he is scoring over 13 points and getting close to 11 boards a game while shooting 50 per cent. The stability of having a guy you can throw it into the post and get productivity from is so helpful. Hes a tough guy on the backboards and competes hard. Knows and accepts his role and is a good long term fit for their franchise. A keeper. Clayton Kershaw Jersey . - After sewage backups, toilet overflows and foul smells surfaced the past two years, nothing at the Oakland Coliseum surprises the home team anymore. Corey Seager Jersey . Coach Jorge Sampaoli resisted naming any major surprises in the list published Tuesday at the site of Chiles football association. Chile is pinning its hopes on the recovery of Vidal. http://www.dodgerssale.com/dodgers-jackie-robinson-jersey/ . This is Lowry’s third time winning the award in his career. He won the award last season and as a member of the Houston Rockets in 2011. Kirk Gibson Jersey .com) - A chant of Zeke reverberated around AT&T Stadium before Ezekiel Elliott powered into the end zone for his fourth and final touchdown. Babe Herman Jersey .com) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to win two straight games for the first time since mid-January on Monday night as they play host to the struggling New York Islanders.COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland didnt spend much time going over the tape of last Saturdays 52-7 loss to Wisconsin. When things like that happen, coach Randy Edsall said, its always better to put it behind you and move forward.By the end of the weekend, the Terrapins were already looking ahead to their next game. Unfortunately, that matchup is this Saturday at Penn State.Theres some history there, none of it good for Maryland. The teams havent met since 1993, before most of the current players on the Terrapins roster were born. But they all seem to know that before this so-called rivalry ended, Maryland was 1-35-1 against Penn State. It would mean a lot to get that second win against them, running back Brandon Ross said Tuesday. Now that the Terrapins are in the Big Ten, they will face Penn State on a regular basis. For this to become a rivalry, however, Maryland (5-3, 2-2) must prove it can compete with the Nittany Lions (4-3, 1-3).To have any kind of rivalry, youve got to win games, Edsall said. Thats one thing we havent done here at the University of Maryland. If youre going to make any kind of series a rivalry, theres got to be wins on our side. Before the home-and-home series mercifully concluded, Penn State was dominant. Marylands lone victory came in 1961, and the only other time in 37 games that the Nittany Lions failed to walk away a winner was in 1989, when the Terrapins used a late field goal to earn a 13-13 tie in Baltimore. You hate to tie a team like Maryland, Penn State lineebacker Andre Collins said after the game.ddddddddddddIt wouldnt happen again. Penn State won the next four games by a collective 190-37 score, culminated by a 70-7 blowout in 1993.And now, a new era of Maryland players have a chance to turn things around, for the sake of all the grads who never experienced the sensation of beating Penn State. Its definitely special. A lot of alumni are looking at this; it has a lot more meaning for them, Terps quarterback C.J. Brown said. For us, we havent played them in forever. Its another game, obviously heightened because of who the head coach is.Former Maryland assistant James Franklin is now head coach at Penn State. Franklin was in line to take over for Ralph Friedgen but left for Vanderbilt in December 2010, shortly before Friedgen was ousted and replaced by Edsall. Franklin experienced tremendous success before taking the job at Penn State last January. The Nittany Lions won four straight to open the Franklin era, but have since lost three in a row, including 31-24 in double-overtime to Ohio State last weekend.Marylands weekend, of course, was even worse. Wisconsin led 24-0 at halftime, finished with 311 yards rushing and limited the Terrapins to 10 first downs overall.Despite the loss, Maryland still needs only one win to become bowl eligible, and that will be their main incentive Saturday. To be 3-2 in the conference and get that sixth win, thats really what were focused on now, Ross said. Thats what makes this game so big.
