CINCINNATI - Starter Mat Latos could make one more start in the minors before the Reds will consider activating him and bringing their rotation back to full strength. Latos had to leave a minor league rehab start after only 67 pitches on Wednesday night at Triple-A Louisville because he developed a cramp in a calf. The Reds were planning to have him throw approximately 100 pitches and then activate him if there was no problem. The club still hadnt talked to Latos on Thursday morning. Manager Bryan Price said no decision had been made on whether another rehab start is needed to get Latos ready to throw 100 pitches in the majors. "Its under consideration what we want to do, whether we want to activate him or give him one more start to get stretched out," Price said. Latos went 14-7 last season with a 3.16 ERA in 32 starts. He had surgery after the season to have a bone chip removed from his elbow. He tore cartilage in his left knee while working out and had surgery the day that spring training opened. He was beyond the knee problems when he developed soreness in his pitching forearm and had to rest again. Price said the latest setback doesnt seem to be serious. "He may have wanted to stay in (the game), but it was apparent that its something he shouldnt be pitching with," Price said. "Hes getting closer and closer to rejoining the club. It was disappointing that he didnt get up to the innings and the pitch limit that wed set. "So hell be in later today and well reassess the severity of it. It doesnt sound like its really an issue." Right-hander Alfredo Simon has gone 7-3 in Latos spot. Simon could move back into the bullpen when Latos returns, or the Reds could decide to move left-hander Tony Cingrani into a relief role. First baseman Joey Votto took ground balls and batting practice again before the final game of a series against San Francisco on Thursday. Votto has been on the disabled list since May 21 with a strained muscle above his left knee. When Votto has full strength back in the muscle, hell begin a rehab assignment in the minors. ___ Follow Joe Kay on Twitter: http://twitter.com/apjoekayCheap Nike Tanjun . In the 71st minute at the San Siro, Paul Pogba set up Tevez with only the goalkeeper to beat, and he expertly chipped it in over Christian Abbiati. The victory gave new Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri a measure of revenge against the club that fired him in January. "After 3 1/2 years at Milan this couldnt be a normal match. But its absolutely not revenge," Allegri said. "Milan was an important step for me in my career. ... But now weve got to focus only on Juventus." Tevez also scored in a 2-0 win over Udinese last weekend then produced both goals in a 2-0 victory over Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday. Juventus was clearly the more dangerous side and controlled for long stretches, holding 60 per cent of the possession, but it took a while for the Bianconeri -- and Tevez -- to find the target. "We expected a match like this. They were coming off two victories," Tevez said. "But we played a good match." Pogbas assist was a work of art, as he faked twice before sending the ball past three defenders toward Tevez from the edge of the area. "I often get angry with Pogba, because hes a lad with huge potential, a lot of which he hasnt shown yet," Allegri said. "Hes very strong physically and technically. He can give a big hand to the squad." With three wins from three matches, Juventus moved three points clear of Milan and Roma, which hosts Cagliari on Sunday. Earlier, Cesena and Empooli drew 2-2 in a matchup between two promoted clubs.dddddddddddd With former Juventus and Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi now coaching the Rossoneri, Milan entered with momentum following a wild 5-4 win over Parma last weekend. Inzaghi, however, believed they were still the underdog. "After two matches we cant think that were at Juves level. Theyre one of the strongest squads in Europe -- not just Italy," Inzaghi said. Juventus controlled early on but it was Milan that had the first real chance in the 27th when Keisuke Honda rose between two defenders for a header that goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon did well to deflect with his right hand. Juve midfielder Claudio Marchisio hit the post from beyond the area in the 38th after Nigel de Jong was late in defence. Often-injured Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy exited with an apparent physical problem in the 66th, and five minutes later Tevez found the target. Tevez celebrated by putting a pacifier in his mouth, to acknowledge his son. "That should make him happy," Tevez said. Newly signed forward Fernando Torres made his Milan debut when he came on for Andrea Poli in the 76th, and picked up a yellow card in added time. Milan forward Jeremy Menez protested for a penalty after going down inside the area in the final minutes, but referee Nicola Rizzoli, who officiated the World Cup final, signalled to play on. In Cesena, the hosts went ahead with goals from Guido Marilungo and Gregoire Defrel in the 30th and 32nd, and Empoli responded with a penalty from Francesco Tavano in the 55th and an equalizer by Daniele Rugani in the 72nd.
